The paper presents a detailed study conducted to determine the seasonal comparison of presence of uranium (U) in ground water collected from Panipat district and its inter-correlation with the physicochemical water quality parameters. A systematic and uniform grid sampling approach was implemented for sampling and analysis of U concentration for both the seasons i.e. premonsoon and post-monsoon using LED Fluorimeter. The present study shows that the geometric mean of U concentration in the ground water samples of Panipat region was 22.2 μg/L for postmonsoon and 21.9 μg/L for pre-monsoon season which is less than the permissible limit of 30 μg/L prescribed by World Health Organization (WHO, 2011) and Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS, 2021) as well as recommended limit of 60 μg/L given by Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB, 2004). A positive correlation of U was observed with TDS, EC, salinity, Cl- , total hardness, Mg2+hardness, total alkalinity and HCO-3 in both seasons of Panipat, Haryana.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
