With technological advancements and constant changes of Internet, cloud computing has been today's trend. With the lower cost and convenience of cloud computing services, users have increasingly put their Web resources and information in the cloud environment. The availability and reliability of the client systems will become increasingly important. Today cloud applications slightest interruption, the impact will be significant for users. It is an important issue that how to ensure reliability and stability of the cloud sites. Load balancing would be one good solution. This paper presents a framework for global server load balancing of the Web sites in a cloud with two-level load balancing model. The proposed framework is intended for adapting an open-source load-balancing system and the framework allows the network service provider to deploy a load balancer in different data centers dynamically while the customers need more load balancers for increasing the availability.
Recently, the trend of Cloud Computing has become a significant impact for IT departments and forms many innovative services by virtualization. Virtual systems have been used and identified on services of different fields nowadays. IT hardware manufacturers such as HP, IBM, Dell, etc…, put a large amount of investments on enterprise server products to support the virtualization environment. Service providers also consider how to transfer their service to the Cloud environment and how to assure the quality of the new service framework. Therefore, the test of Cloud service and the evaluation of virtualization benchmark must be a new important field to be emphasized, an innovative Cloud service "Test as a Service" has been created by several service providers. In this paper, we investigate the performance factors of virtualization benchmark based on the Vmmark model which adapts the same workloads on one server. In real cases, various workloads would run on the same server, the results of new scores may be different with the original metrics. Further, a new scoring algorithm is established for dynamic composed workloads in this paper. Finally, some experiment scenarios combined with one-tile VMmark workloads and one specific server workload were executed and used to illustrate the weighted points of different kinds of workloads on server consolidation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
