The formation of intramolecular hydrogen bonding by certain N-substituted 2-acylpyrroles has been demonstrated by B3LYP/aug-cc-pVDZ calculations, the quantum theory of atoms in molecules, and the natural bond orbital method. Total electron energy densities H BCP at the bond critical point of the H⋯O bond were applied to analyze the strength of these interactions. The relations between quantum theory of atoms in molecules, carbonyl stretching vibrational modes ν C = O , and natural bond orbital parameters associated with the formation of the C-H⋯O interaction have been established. The short contacts were found experimentally in the crystal structure of a new 2-acylpyrrole derivative 5-chloro-2-oxopentyl-1-(5-chloro-2-oxopentyl)pyrrolo-2-carboxylate. The influence of 2-and N-substitution of 2-acylpyrroles on C-H⋯O interaction energy is discussed. It was found that the methylene group may act as a proton donor leading to a red-shift or blue-shift phenomenon of the ν C-H stretching mode.
The article is an attempt to describe over forty years of professional career of one of the most distinguished employees of the Institute of Polish Philology at the University of Bialystok, PhD Wiesław Stec. The text describes the most important scientific achievements of the researcher, his publications and editorial output. It also presents a detailed discussion on his organizational activity as deputy director of the Institute, a function he held in the 1990s, i.e. a key period for Bialystok’s Polish Philology. The final part of the article includes the author’s personal reflections on the unique character of the didactic work of PhD Wiesław Stec.
Proponowane tu szkice dotyczą sześciu najważniejszych przedstawicieli prozy określanej mianem noir w literaturze amerykańskiej, którzy swoje utwory napisali i wydali między 1929 i 1960 rokiem.
The paper is a brief – out of necessity – analysis of Metal Gear game series created by Japanese author, Hideo Kojima. The main subject of the analysis was Kojima’s unusual approach towards worldbuilding, gameplay mechanics and his storytelling with the use of various narrative means and strategies. Another topic studied here was Hideo Kojima’s connection with postmodernism mainly in regard to the series’ trademark feature – constant breaking of the forth wall. The final part of the paper concerns Kojima’s so far most ambitious work – Metal Gear Solid V, which is depicted here as a kind of narrative puzzle.
