O texto tem como objeto o esgotamento da concepção liberal acerca da democracia e para tanto volta sua atenção aos eventos ocorridos em junho de 2013, quando uma série de expressivas manifestações trouxe à superfície a crise dessa narrativa democrática, sendo este o problema de pesquisa abordado. Como hipótese, argumenta-se que as Jornadas de Junho, inobstante à pluralidade de reivindicações e interpretações que lhes acompanham, expressam a insatisfação social com uma democracia de cunho meramente procedimental e representativo que não consegue mais dar conta da pluralidade de interesses sociais, resultando em uma cultura política conservadora e que abre mão da confrontação e do debate público em nome de uma governabilidade baseada na hostilidade à voz das ruas. A abordagem faz uso do método hipotético-dedutivo com procedimento de pesquisa bibliográfica.
