Ce fut le cas en Espagne où le destin des « nouveaux chrétiens » et la doctrine de la limpieza de sangre montrent que l’assimilation et la conversion des juifs, loin de faire cesser l’antisémitisme, donnent au contraire à celui-ci une structure discursive hypocondriaque et une dimension biologique et raciale que la langue n’avait pas encore inventées comme telles. En Allemagne cette hypocondrie émerge dans un monde sécularisé où seule l’immanence de la nature est sacralisée et où les sciences biomédicales tiennent lieu d’ontologie. Le « Juif » devient aux yeux des nazis le mal suprême en tant que maladie de la politique.
