Le site ibérique célèbre de La Alcudia (l'Illici antique) est situé dans la dépression tectonique d'Elche (secteurs du bas-Vinalopo et du bas-Segura) à l'extrémité orientale des chaînes bétiques. L'environnement du site est envisagé sous ses aspects géologiques et géographiques : reconstitution du paysage ibérique, et des rivages marins proches ; ressources minérales de l'arrière pays. L'essentiel de l'étude concerne l'extraction et l'utilisation des matériaux lithiques employés notamment pour la statuaire à l'époque ibérique. L'ensemble des carrières d'où fut extraite la pierre de la fameuse Dame d'Elche est localisé. Un début d'inventaire pétrographique permet de repérer la difusion, dans les régions avoisinantes, des oeuvres sculptées produites à La Alcudia.
Antigua. El habitat, cuya historia empieza probablemente a finales del siglo VIII o en tomo al 700 a.C, en un momento que se puede fijar hacia el 600 a.C, fue rodeado de una potente muralla que incluye una superficie de 1,5 Ha. El oppidum de Ilturir/Iliberri sólo recientemente ha sido objeto de estudios que permitan conocer la entidad de su trama urbana así como de los componentes sociales, religiosos, territoriales, paisajísticos o económicos de lo que supuso el origen y desarrollo de un núcleo urbano que, como otros coetáneos y vecinos, surgió como consecuencia de un proceso de sinecismo que agrupó a diversas poblaciones creando en el actual barrio granadino de El Albaicín uno de los asentamientos ibéricos más importantes del sureste peninsular y Alta Andalucía (Fig. 1), pero uno de los peor conocidos, a pesar de que ya en los años 60 del pasado siglo xx era objeto de un estudio sistemático una de sus necrópolis (Arribas 1967). Y es que una serie de circunstancias poco acertadas ralentizarían el conocimiento arqueológico de este yacimiento multifásico.
