La statue de grès rouge, trouvée en 1969 sur le site antique de Javols (Lozère), avait d'abord été considérée comme représentant le dieu Bacchus. Un nouvel examen invite à y voir plutôt une figure de Silvain-Sucellus, au dos de laquelle un groupe d'instruments est représenté. Des comparaisons permettent de la dater de la fin du Ier s., ou de la première moitié du IIe s. de n. è. Le quartier dans lequel elle a été trouvée avait d'abord paru être un secteur d'habitat en terrasse, mais on peut se demander si la salle dont elle provient n'a pas, comme d'autres à Alésia et à Malain par exemple, une fonction religieuse, et ne s'intègre pas dans un ensemble plus vaste, lieu de réunion des artisans de la ville.
