Este estudio analiza la relación entre corrupción ycrecimiento económico en una muestra de 19 países de AméricaLatina durante el periodo 1998-2018 mediante un análisis dedatos de panel. Se estiman los efectos directos e indirectos dela corrupción en la tasa de crecimiento del PIB. Después decontrolar por una serie de factores económicos y sociopolíticos,los resultados confirman la relación negativa entre corrupción y crecimiento económico.
El presente trabajo de investigación evalúa la evolución histórica de la corrupción en el Ecuador durante el periodo 1998-2019. Se identifican los determinantes históricos de la corrupción, sus principales impactos económicos y la capacidad de respuesta del país para enfrentarla. La metodología utilizada es mixta, está basada en el estudio de datos empíricos para medir la evolución de la corrupción y una recopilación de montos de procesos de corrupción de mandatorios en el periodo analizado. Los resultados permiten valorar su situación actual, alcance y magnitud en el Ecuador.
El presente artículo evalúa la competitividad de las pequeñas y medianas empresas ubicadas en el Distrito Metropolitano de Quito e identifica las dificultades que afectan su crecimiento productivo. En la actualidad conforman una importante participación en el mercado, con un 99,5% de las empresas registradas en el Ecuador y el 65,5% del empleo en el país. Para el desarrollo de la investigación se utiliza un método cuantitativo que permite identificar los principales factores que inciden sobre la competitividad empresarial. Los resultados de la investigación concluyen que este tipo de empresas presentan algunas problemáticas que afectan su competitividad, en particular, el bajo grado de innovación tecnológica, falta de apoyo financiero, bajo desempeño en talento humano y grado de conocimientos sobre administración. Esto impide su crecimiento ante un mercado cada vez más exigente y en constante actualización a nivel tecnológico.
Este trabajo de investigación analiza la importancia del uso de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC) en los procesos de Presupuesto Participativo (PP) para promover formas de participación directa de los ciudadanos en la definición de prioridades en la inversión pública en América Latina. La metodología utilizada fue la investigación documental de tipo descriptiva, seguida de una discusión sobre los posibles usos de las TIC en América Latina y sus desafíos en la implementación. Los resultados arrojan que las TIC brindan oportunidades para incrementar la participación ciudadana y mejorar la confianza en las instituciones públicas, mediante una mejora en los procesos de seguimiento. Sin embargo, las TIC pueden acentuar las desigualdades en la participación ciudadana, y los procesos de debate y deliberación virtuales no siempre fomentan un debate participativo.
