Chaque année, cela recommence. Au détour d'une rue caennaise on croise de drôles de silhouettes et d'accoutrements, c'est le Carnaval qui s'invite en ville. Pourtant, malgré ce sentiment de répétition, le Carnaval se transforme.Dans la tradition sociologique et historiographique, le carnaval fait souvent gure de fête politique. L'analyse de Mikhaïl Bakhtine insiste sur le renversement symbolique des hiérarchies quotidiennes. Le carnavalesque est un espacetemps de contestation institué, une sorte d'essence de la fête que les nouvelles générations auraient perdu à en croire les plus anciens. Ce discours critique très présent au cours de l'enquête est accentué par des attentes normatives liées à un imaginaire faisant de l'étudiant une gure de la contestation politique. La dénaturation du Carnaval coïnciderait alors avec une dépolitisation plus générale des étudiants. Ce qui prédomine aujourd'hui, c'est une dé nition de la fête autour de notions comme le « vivre-ensemble » qui dissimulent l'importance de la consommation durant les festivités et les transforme en « mise en spectacle d'une société unie » (Garat, 2005 : 283). C'est ce processus d'évènementialisation (Lallement, 2007) dont il sera aussi question ici, de même que des logiques de marchandisation, d'évacuation des con its, de la dimension politique du Carnaval au pro t d'une image fantasmée (Crozat & Fournier, 2005 : 311).Il est certain qu'au regard de l'autre grand carnaval régional, à Granville, qui se déroule sur la période des Gras, le Carnaval étudiant n'o re pas le même contenu sociosymbolique. Granville paraît davantage caractéristique du carnaval traditionnel : plusieurs jours, jugement et crémation d'un Roi Carnaval, forte activité associative, pratique des intrigues 2 … À l'inverse, le Carnaval de Caen
Qu’entend-on par transgression ? En considérant qu’il s’agit moins d’une manière d’enfreindre la loi, le droit, de contrevenir à la règle, que d’une manière d’agir ou de produire la norme, on s’aperçoit que la normativité du capitalisme néolibéral se donne à voir comme une économie de la transgression, qu’elle tente précisément de capter l’agir transgressif pour se reproduire. Les espaces-temps qu’étaient les fêtes collectives, historiquement affectées à l’agir transgressif, assurent de moins en moins leur fonction critique, leur mise en cause de l’ordre social. Le régime permissif qui les caractérisait se retrouve désormais dans le travail mais directement tourné vers la reproduction. À partir des théories de Giorgio Agamben sur les normes et l’état d’exception, cet article se propose d’interroger la manière dont l’agir transgressif se trouve capturé et produit un être de plus en plus aliéné dans sa condition anthropologique d’homo transgressor.
