The clinical significance of this source of collateral perfusion of the spinal cord had not been confirmed previously. Intracranial stroke was associated with lengthy manipulation of wires, catheters, and introducer sheaths within the aortic arch, reflected by a longer duration of the procedure.
We suggest that CDUS be used as initial imaging modality of dysfunctional shunts, but complete access should be depicted at DSA and angioplasty to detect all significant stenoses eligible for intervention. CE-MRA should be considered only if DSA is inconclusive.
Aneurysms associated with Q-fever infections tend to be complicated, requiring challenging surgical corrections, and long-term antibiotic treatment. Major complications and mortality rates are significant, especially in conservatively treated patients.
EVAR is a feasible treatment in the majority of patients with ruptured or symptomatic AAA. The 30-day mortality appears to be similar between conventionally treated patients and those undergoing endovascular repair.
