O Desenvolvimento Rural Sustentável – DRS é um tema amplamente discutido na atualidade, notadamente na região Oeste do Paraná, tendo em vista que se trata de uma região essencialmente agrícola e com grandes propriedades de terras. Um dos grandes paradoxos nesse assunto é a utilização indiscriminada de agrotóxicos na produção agrícola face aos riscos, investimentos e expectativas depositadas pelos produtores, sem esquecer a qualidade do alimento produzido. Diante dessa dicotomia, o presente estudo busca relatar através da revisão bibliográfica sobre o uso de agrotóxicos nos sistemas de produção, o DRS e a produção orgânica e agroecológica como alternativas a este sistema e ainda analisar alguns desafios e perspectivas para a transição no Oeste do Paraná. A metodologia consistiu em pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, a fim de constatar qual a situação atual da produção agrícola, quais as medidas que podem auxiliar na transição e as dificuldades enfrentadas. Com a pesquisa, foram constatados índices preocupantes da quantidade de agrotóxico utilizada no Oeste do Paraná e, mais preocupante, a constatação de que tais substâncias estão residualmente nos alimentos produzidos. Por outro lado, a produção orgânica e agroecológica, oriundas, principalmente, da agricultura familiar, surgem como uma possível solução, mas com inúmeros desafios a enfrentar.
Em consequência de algumas leis e decretos a Educação Especial passou a ser desenvolvida por instituições especializadas e também pelo ensino regular. No entanto, para a inclusão de pessoas com necessidades especiais em escolas regulares, são necessárias várias adequações curriculares, dos profissionais, e de infraestrutura. Buscando apresentar alguns elementos que compõe o cenário da inclusão do aluno com Síndrome de Down no país, o trabalho se constitui em uma revisão bibliográfica e documental, perpassando pela legislação, particularidades dos alunos e professores. Assim, por meio de leituras, foi possível identificar a falta de diálogo das legislações educacionais e a formação dos professores do ensino regular, que sentem dificuldades no trabalho com os alunos Down.
