Pure monoisomeric cosurfactants have been synthesized to formulate middle phase microemulsions minimizing cosurfactant requirements. This god was reached by adjusting the structure of a common alcohol cosurfactant with added ethoxylate (EO) and propoxylate (PO) groups. It was found that cosurfactant requirements for microemulsion formation were significantly reduced by proper choice and ordering of adducts.
