CLPU-like lesions were only produced by S. aureus and not S. epidermidis in the presence of an epithelial abrasion and contact lens. Thus, we hypothesize that to reduce the incidence of CLPU, contact lenses designed to reduce corneal interaction and repel microbial colonization should be produced.
