The absorption characteristics, emission spectra, luminescent quantum yields, and lifetimes are reported for 24 ruthenium(ii) tris-1 ,1 0-phenanthroline complexes in EtOH-MeOH solution. Quantum yields fall between 0.01 9 and 0.403, the highest values being recorded for complexes substituted at the 4,7-sites with aryl groups. Incorporation of these derivatives into poly(viny1 chloride) film raises the quantum yields leading to values ranging from 0.40 to 0.75.
Absorption, fluorescence excitation and emission spectra have been measured for several derivatives of all-trans-1,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene (DPH) in several non-polar solvents over a range of temperatures. Emission is shown to occur from the low-lying 'A: state (Sl) and the state (Sz) which is at slightly higher energy. A model is proposed in which thermal repopulation of S2 from S1 proceeds at a rate which is comparable to radiative and non-radiative decay from S1.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
