When consistently applied, Seprafilm significantly decreased adhesion formation around the stoma but not operative times without any increase in the need for myotomy or enterotomy. These findings were not seen in the overall study population possibly due to the large number of surgeons using a variety of application techniques.
MARCH ____r __1913__ _MEDICAL JoLRNL 43r due to the fact that one constituent of the mixture is acting as a solvent of the other, and solution is only gradual. A series of compounds has been investigated to illustrate this point, and in eaclh ease two suibstances have been chosen whose melting points are fairly close togetlher. The usual type of apparatus was employed in whieh the bath was sulplhuric acid.A tube containing one pure substance was attaclhed to the left side of the thermometer, the second pure suibstance to the right side, and a thlird ttibe in the middle contained an intimate mixture of equal parts by weiaht of eaclh substance. The temperature was gradually raised, and the three tubes closely inspected during, the process by the aid of a lens. The pure substances r3tained their original appearance to within about 10 C. of the final fuisiou point, which in each case was complete within a range of 30 C. The mixture of the two substances taken commenced to soften at a much lower temperature, and fusion extended over a considerable range in eaclh case.It is clear from the followingr table that a pair of suibstances may have similar melting points, but a totally different one when mixed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
