Late-presenting diaphragmatic hernia should be suspected in cases of unexplained acute or chronic respiratory or gastrointestinal symptoms, and abnormal chest radiographic findings. The prognosis is favourable with correct diagnosis and prompt surgical repair.
Generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) is rare in childhood, especially in early infancy. At this young age, it is essential to make an accurate diagnosis as pustules could be the presentation of serious infectious diseases or unusual dermatologic diseases. We reported clinical manifestations, laboratory examinations, and histopathology findings in a 6-week-old girl with GPP. Acitretin was initiated at 1 mg/kg/day with marked improvement on her psoriasis, and titrated to 0.4 mg/kg/day in the subsequent 6 months without flare. Acitretin proved to be an effective therapeutic option for young infants with GPP.
Seventy-nine percent of our CDH patients survived to hospital discharge. Resuscitation by a skilled neonatology team to prevent low Apgar scores and low pH, careful evaluation of other anomalies, and overcoming pulmonary hypertension might improve the survival rate. Recognizing unfavorable factors in CDH may help clinicians manage the critical care of these babies.
SGA commonly occurred in GS cases and it was associated with longer hospital stay, more operative complications, and less body weight gain. Our conclusion may provide informative data to parents of GS fetuses during prenatal consultation, and reminds us that long-term follow-up of these cases could be necessary.
