Introducción: Un problema oncológico importante de la infección por el virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH) es el desarrollo de tumores malignos, tanto definitorios como asociados a sida, entre ellos los tumores de vejiga, una patología que ha sido poco estudiada en pacientes. Objetivo: Realizar una revisión descriptiva sobre la asociació n del VIH y el cáncer de vejiga urinaria. Método: Revisión no sistemática de la literatura sobre cáncer de vejiga en pacientes con infección por VIH entre enero de 1992 y enero de 2022, consultando Medline/PubMed y Google. Se estudiaron 23 variables, siendo 16 clínicamente relevantes, cuya estadística descriptiva se realizó con frecuencia y porcentaje para las variables cualitativas, y con mediana y rango (valores mínimo y máximo) para las variables cuantitativas. Resultados: Se identificaron 40 publicaciones sobre cáncer de vejiga, con un total de 300 pacientes con VIH, distribuidas en 4 revisiones de series mayores con 109, 57, 41 y 15 casos con 222 pacientes (74%), 9 series menores con 3-6 pacientes con 42 pacientes (14%), 25 casos clínicos con 25 pacientes (8.3%), 1 estudio de prevalencia con 2 pacientes (0.7%) y 1 estudio de supervivencia con 9 pacientes (3%). Conclusiones: El cáncer de vejiga es frecuente en los pacientes con infección por VIH. La hematuria y los síntomas del tracto urinario inferior deben investigarse oportunamente mediante citología urinaria, ecografía, cistoscopia y biopsia. Se postula el tamizaje sistemático mediante citología urinaria en los pacientes con infección por VIH y síntomas urinarios como una alternativa para mejorar desenlaces.
