In the State of São Paulo, particularly on intermediate-sized cities, the recent industrial trends are related to the introduction of innovative processes of production and cooperation happening on the Local Productive Arrangements, (APL in Portuguese) fortifying the local economy and development. Nevertheless, the logic of land use and occupation organization of these developments are not guided by urban policies associating the urban-environmental quality to the demands or production and consumption. Based on the case of the municipality of Limeira, this article concentrates on the Jewels and Jewlleries APL, discusses the transformations that happened on the land use and occupation as well as the limits and challenges of the municipal urban planning process. It concludes that particularly the distribution of developments in this urban area is critical, and that not always it is possible to redirect the industrial location logic and its is not possible to minimize their negative effects on the intra-urban territory.
The growing role of the real estate sector brings everyday more significant repercussions for the production of urban space and for the economy. It's cyclical characteristic influences the urban dynamics, the distribution of urban densities and, consequently, has positive and negative effects on the urban infrastructure. Understanding this phenomenon becomes of great importance for the city management, as well as for designing strategies for real estate companies. The case of the Southern Zone of Natal, capital of Rio Grande do Norte, presents interesting specificities because it is an area with strong international tourism that underwent an intense verticalization process between 2000 and 2015. The proximity to Zones of Environmental Protection has apparently contributed to attract a greater amount of real estate projects that, due to the absence of urban density controls, are having a strong impact on the urban infrastructure installed in the region. This research elaborated a characterization of the real estate production in the region, in the last twenty years, in comparison with the changes in the urban legislation and the availability of infrastructure. The main results show that the absence of density control induces an intense production of housing units, implying a population expansion that tends to quickly saturate the current infrastructure network.
To understand the behavior and the logic of the real estate development is one of the main roles of the city planning that intends to interfere, in some way, in the real estate market in order to give it balance, avoiding free actions that could lead to undesirable urban results. Thus, for this purpose, in order to establish effective forms of intervention it is absolutely necessary to know how the actors directly involved behave and react to the standards and laws in force. The aim is to allow a better understanding of the verticalization process of the city of São Paulo and a better comprehension of the territorial logic of São Paulo's real estate development. As other researchers-who also studied the issues related to the city intra-urban development or had the real estate development as the background of their works-this paper tries to contribute to the generation of a knowledge that could better subsidy the conception, the formulation and the practice of planning and urban management of the Brazilian cities.
Brasil é o quinto maior produtor de coco (coccus nucifera L.) do mundo atualmente. Considerando que não existe uma destinação adequada para as sobras do fruto, o consumo do coco gera um volume considerável de resíduos, especialmente em áreas litorâneas. Dessa forma, esta revisão explora a relação entre os descartes do setor agroindustrial e a necessidade de tornar o setor da construção civil mais ecologicamente sustentável. O objetivo desse estudo é verificar a viabilidade do uso da fibra de coco em elementos da construção civil, avaliando estudos já existentes que testam a utilização dessa fibra como insumo na produção de elementos construtivos. Inicialmente, foi feita uma filtragem dos estudos relevantes para a pesquisa, e em seguida foi estudado o desempenho desses elementos após a aplicação da fibra. Como resultado, a literatura apresenta uma variada gama de aplicações da fibra de coco na engenharia, e esse reforço tende a aprimorar
