Resumo As ligas Zn-Co são utilizadas como revestimentos de substratos metálicos, conferindo melhorias em algumas propriedades do material quando comparadas aos metais puros, principalmente em relação à inibição da corrosão. Através da eletrodeposição é possível obter ligas de Zn-Co para o revestimento de substratos e soluções eletrolíticas que contenham substâncias que melhorem a qualidade do revestimento. Entre essas substâncias estão os compostos orgânicos, que podem alterar o aspecto visual, as propriedades morfológicas e mecânicas do depósito. Assim o objetivo deste estudo foi verificar a influência do sorbitol (diferentes concentrações) adicionado à solução eletrolítica contendo ZnSO 4 e CoSO 4 em meio ácido, sendo a liga Zn-Co depositada eletroliticamente sobre o aço NBR6665, através da eletrodeposição. Caracterizou-se os revestimentos utilizando-se um Microscópio Óptico Concocal e um Espectrômetro de Emissão Óptica por Plasma acoplado Indutivamente (ICP OES). Os resultados mostraram que o sorbitol, em diferentes concentrações, melhorou as características do revestimento, com a diminuição da rugosidade e da porosidade tornando o revestimento mais uniforme devido ao controle da taxa de crescimento de formação dos grãos e a inibição dos íons metálicos a serem depositados. Concluindo-se assim que a presença do aditivo orgânico na solução eletrolítica diminui a eficiência do depósito da liga Zn-Co.
