O objetivo deste trabalho é estabelecer uma relação entre informação, decisão estratégica e sensemaking organizacional. Muitos são os estudos sobre o processo decisório nas organizações que estabelecem uma relação entre informação e decisão. A maior parte utiliza a abordagem racional. Este artigo procura demonstrar as limitações da abordagem racional e caminhar para uma abordagem alternativa, baseada da teoria de sensemaking, que concebe a informação dentro da dimensão humana. Por meio de uma revisão das abordagens sobre o processo decisório e informação, propõe uma relação entre decisão estratégica e informação na perspectiva do sensemaking organizacional desenvolvida por Karl Weick, como abordagem alternativa. Conclui argumentando que uma decisão estratégica se inicia somente quando a informação faz sentido, ou seja, quando através de um processo de interação humana produz um significado que dá sentido à ação.
