Este artigo traz reflexões teóricas construídas no Grupo de PesquisaSubjetividades e (auto)biografias. Trata-se de duas pesquisas de iniciação científica e inovação que desenvolveram produtos diferentes para comunicar Histórias de Vidas de pessoas diagnosticadas com Esclerose Múltipla. Ambas dialogaram de forma interdisciplinar com a Comunicação, especialmente com a ética no Jornalismo, a História e o Patrimônio Cultural, mas, sobretudo, estiveram atentas à questão ética das pesquisas (auto)biográficas. Com o foco na ética e nas epistemologias que nortearam decisões para as edições dessas histórias, a questão “O que fazer com a palavra do outro?” (ARFUCH,2010) foi a pergunta que perseguiu o trabalho. A exploração do trauma em uma mídia, ou a espetacularização da ‘superação’, ou ainda a sensibilidade para a conscientização da doença foram decisões conscientes do trabalho de comunicação e nessas pesquisas funcionaram como caminho reflexivo para pensar os campos envolvidos.
