This paper discusses the issues related to the development of a practical infrared spectroscopic method for the determination of the principal types of serum lipids, triglycerides, cholesteryl esters, and phospholipids. Earlier papers on this subject are noted, and the various matrix mathematical approaches used previously for this application are compared. The results described in this work were obtained with a least squares curve fitting type of algorithm, termed a Q-matrix approach. Comparisons are made between results obtained with a number of different methods constructed for use with the Q-matrix approach.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
