A field experiment was conducted at ICAR- Indian Institute of Soil Science (IISS), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) to evaluate the impact of different levels of crop residue retention and herbicidal weed control measures on weed dynamics, crop growth and yield characteristics of chickpea crop under conservation agriculture. Data were recorded on weed study, crop growth and yield characters of chickpea. Results indicate that pre-emergence herbicide application treatments (H1 and H2) were found to be effective in reducing weed density at 30 DAS (63.56%) as compared to post emergence treatments which were applied after recording observations on weed density at 30 DAS. It has been observed that post emergence application of imazethapyr @ 25 g a.i. ha-1 was found to restrict crop growth for a period of 10-15 days as compared to pre-emergence treatments. The results on crop growth and yield parameters revealed that higher residue retention level treatment (90% crop residue retention) recorded significantly higher plant height (54.81cm), dry matter plant-1 (18.39 g plant-1), number of pods plant-1 (36.46), seeds plant-1 (47.11), seed yield (1202 kg ha-1) and straw yield (2916 kg ha-1) as compared to no crop residue retention.
The present study was conducted at Research farm of R.A.K., college of Agriculture, Sehore, Madhya Pradesh during 2020-21. The experiment was laid out using Randomized Block Design with different levels of Phosphorus with or without PSB application (T1- 45 kg P2O5/ha, T2- 60 kg P2O5/ha, T3- 75 kg P2O5/ha,T4 -90 kg P2O5/ha, T5 - 45 kg P2O5/ha + PSB @ 5g/kg seed, T6 - 60 kg P2O5/ha + PSB @ 5g/kg seed, T7 - 75 kg P2O5/ha + PSB @ 5g/kg seed, T8 - 90 kg P2O5/ha + PSB @ 5g/kg seed).Treatment T7 found to be best for yield and yield attributes of berseem. Maximum no. of capsules/m2 (466), no. of seeds/capsule (28.81), Test weight (2.01 g), Seed yield (0.46 g/plant, 0.478 kg/plot, 239 kg/ha), Green fodder yield (63.75 kg/plot, 31870 kg/ha) and HI (10.21).While minimum recorded with treatment T1 (45kg P2O5/ha without PSB application).
Seed coating is a method of encasing seeds in adhesive materials to improve germination and performance while lowering cost. Seed coating has been widely used in agriculture as an efficient way to reduce biotic and abiotic stressors, hence boosting crop growth, productivity, and health, in order to satisfy the demands of the development of precision agriculture. Plant-beneficial microorganisms include Trichoderma, rhizobium, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungusfungi and plant growth-promoting bacteria. Fungicide seed treatment is easy, affordable, and efficient. Additionally, it is well known that the selection of chemicals for seed treatment also has a favourable impact on seed viability and vigour during germination storage. Seed coating polymers are utilised in conjunction with active components like fungicides and insecticides. A new era of biocontrol techniques has recently begun. By utilising hostile microbes to fight seed-borne illnesses, new technology is being developed. Beneficial fungus like Trichoderma harzianum and Trichoderma viride are among the bioagents most powerful and efficient fungus- and soil-borne pathogen suppressants such as seedling blight, collar rot, stem rot, root rot, dry root rot, and their use may can effectively manage each of these illnesses, and thus encourage crop growth and yield.
