O Miss Brasil Gay é um concurso que elege o mais belo transformista gay do país desde 1977, em Juiz de Fora (MG). O evento é dividido em duas fases principais e este trabalho busca compreender a etapa do traje típico, correspondente à representação dos aspectos culturais dos estados brasileiros pelas misses. Delimitando as análises entre os anos de 2017 a 2019, realizamos um levantamento dos vídeos, fotografias e reportagens referentes ao Miss Brasil Gay que circularam nas plataformas oficiais do evento e também no jornal eletrônico Acessa. Exploramos o material a partir das teorias de gênero junto de uma bibliografia relacionada ao traje típico, ao figurino e à fantasia. Baseando-se no que foi exibido na passarela, classificamos os trajes típicos em três categorias principais (figurino, fantasias e trajes étnicos), entendendo que, na competição, as identidades regionais nem sempre se encontram em primeiro plano, e sim na construção de uma mulher exuberante. Abordamos, também, o papel dos estilistas dentro do concurso, uma vez que seus imaginários e modos de fazer definem muitas vezes o que será apresentado, tramando narrativas imagéticas que transitam tanto pelos aspectos legitimados como tradicionais quanto com imagens globalizadas do ser mulher.
Este artigo tem como objetivo a defesa de uma postura metodológica de utilizar fontes queer para estudar projetos não binários em moda. Apresenta alguns conceitos da teoria queer e decolonial para analisar a binariedade e a não binariedade da moda, a partir de Lauretis (1994), Butler (2012[1990]), Foucault (1988) e Vergueiro (2018). Em seguida, propomos uma abordagem qualitativa a partir de estudo de caso, analisando as narrativas do designer de moda Fabio Costa e da artista e designer de moda Vicenta Perrotta a respeito de suas produções de moda não binária. Entre os resultados, identificamos que a experiência pessoal e sua trajetória como LGBTQIAPN+ refletem nas produções de moda e de vestir dessus criadores, de forma que, além de objeto de estudo, elus se tornam também fonte epistemológica para pesquisas em moda não binária.
