Fray Agustín de Otero (ca.1675-1730) fue un monje cisterciense perteneciente al monasterio de Santa María de Sobrado (A Coruña) que ejerció como arquitecto y aparejador en Galicia durante el primer tercio del siglo XVIII. Inició su carrera de lego constructor trabajando para su propio cenobio. En 1717 fue reclamado en Mondoñedo por el obispo fray Juan Muñoz y Salcedo para diseñar la renovación de la fachada de la catedral. A partir de entonces el prelado le confió otros proyectos en la ciudad como la reforma del palacio episcopal, la traza de una traída de aguas y de una fuente monumental, y también la de su propio sepulcro. Puesto que su figura apenas resulta conocida por la historiografía, en el presente trabajo abordaremos su biografía, carrera profesional y personalidad artística.
En 1998, José María Díaz Fernández, archivero de la catedral de Santiago de Compostela, planteó la posibilidad de que los lienzos de la Anunciación de su Sala Capitular fuesen dos obras realizadas por el maestro italiano Guido Reni. En este artículo, se realiza un estudio pormenorizado de las mismas, relacionándolas con la obra del pintor boloñés. Los resultados cuestionan esta autoría pero revelan parte de la particular historia de cada una de estas telas.
