Objetivo: Avaliar as crenças que norteiam o cuidar do recém-nascido prematuro em domicílio, na perspectiva da mãe cuidadora. Método: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo com abordagem qualitativa. Foram realizadas 30 entrevistadas semiestruturadas com mães que tiveram filhos prematuros. Para a análise dos discursos apreendidos nas entrevistas foi utilizada a Teoria Fundamentada nos Dados. Resultados: As mães de recém-nascidos prematuros apresentaram baixa renda, pouco acesso ao sistema de saúde e eram moradoras de áreas consideradas geográfica e economicamente menos favorecidas. Evidenciou-se que as mães apresentaram medo e insegurança ao cuidar dos seus filhos e não receberam apoio da Estratégia Saúde da Família. Conclusão: As mães do estudo relataram grande interferência na adoção das práticas parentais no domicílio, principalmente da avó e não se sentem preparadas para cuidar do filho prematuro, em casa, por sentirem medo de realizar os cuidados.
Objetivo: Avaliar as crenças sobre as práticas parentais ao recém-nascido prematuro em domicílio na percepção das mães cuidadoras. Método: Pesquisa exploratória com abordagem quantitativa. Foram entrevistadas 30 mães de recém-nascido prematuro, cadastradas na Estratégia de Saúde da Família de Guanambi (BA). Foram aplicados dois questionários: um sociodemográfico, outro de crenças sobre as práticas parentais. Os dados foram avaliados com uso de estatística descritiva e comparativa. Resultados: Identificaram que os fatores sociodemográficos e a prematuridade apresentam influência na adoção de práticas parentais específicas para cada contexto. As principais práticas adotadas pelas mães estudadas foram o contato face a face, com a média de 8,5 (±2,6), e a estimulação corporal, com 6,8 (±0,8) pontos. As mães foram as que mais cuidaram dos seus filhos em domicílio (36,7%), entretanto, não se sentiram preparadas, relacionando ao medo (53,3%). Conclusão: Os contextos sociais, culturais, ambientais e, sobretudo, a prematuridade interferiram na adoção de estilos parentais e percepção da parentalidade. Destaca-se a imprescindibilidade de novas análises para ampliação do conhecimento que contribuam para políticas públicas efetivas com ênfase no cuidado ao recém-nascido prematuro em domicílio.
