This presentation is authored particularly for those who demand comprehensive information regarding physiologic effects, toxicity, industrial hygiene and medical control of those isocyanates generally associated with polyurethanes. As a standard practice, every user, handler, storer, applicator, distributor or others who may come in contact with TDI, MDI and PMPPI should be aware of toxicologic risks associated with their misuse. The characteristic and most significant physiologic effect of exposure to these isocyanates is a direct irritant or sensitization response not unlike asthma. It is most unlikely that long-term exposure to TDI, MDI and PMPPI vapors would produce oncogenic effects.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
