Auch mehr Function wird durch den Lister'schen Verband erhalten und wiederhergestellt, als das früher denkbar war. Wie viele Fingerund Handverletzungen, das tägliche Brod des practischen Chirurgen, endeten früher mit Verlust der Sehnenoder der Gelenkbeweglichkeit und die Hand ist ein Organ, dessen Einbusse an Brauchbarkeit die meisten Menschen schmerzlicher empfinden, als die Schädigung eines Auges.
