Summary Internal controls are critical to guarding an institution against fraud, error, and devastation. They are effective tools for preventing losses and achieving organizational goals. However, internal control mechanisms need to be relevant, because the organization cannot comprehend the effectiveness of the system if they are out‐of‐touch with the operation. Health care control practices are not exceptionally different from what pertains in other industries. The health care organizations require effective corporate governance mechanisms to uphold their operations and performances. These practices assist health care organizations to exhume cynical practices that generate unproductive results and also factors militating against the hospital's goals or objectives. This study revealed that practices such as enhanced Board diligence, Health Professionals on board, financial prudence, and effective communication have the tendency of reducing mortality, if well executed.
Management and line managers in every organization including healthcare organizations have an important role to play in managing their subordinates to ensure that the organization can grow from time to time. Leadership theories stem from the onset in every organization and open fresh doors and contribute greatly to the success of the organization, thus starting from the organizational growth to the last point where it reflect the overall performance of the organization. The research used a purposive sampling technique and selected 10 private hospitals from Accra and Tema as a sample. A questionnaire was designed based on inductive reasoning. To ensure some homogeneity of social background, all subjects were selected purposively. The fuzzy TOPSIS analysis, shows that democratic leadership has the most proximity indicator with promotion of employees’ motivation scales among assessed leadership styles and is recommended as proposal option in organizations where expect leadership approach grounded in promoting employees’ motivation.
The pertinence of corporate governance doctrines in the management of corporate organisations cannot be overlooked (underestimated). The increasing influence of principles of corporate governance around the world has been greatly linked to the recent corporate frauds and scandals. These frauds and scandals are largely the outcome from the failure of authorities of countries to effectively implement the legal and regulatory frameworks pertaining to corporate governance. Ghana is archetypal in regards to the failure of authorities to enforce the laws and regulations in relation to corporate governance. During the enforcement of the laws and regulations of corporate governance, some vitally important issues are either overlooked or deliberately deserted. This paper attempts to examine the legal and regulatory framework of Ghana in respect of corporate governance and points out the importance of conforming to good corporate governance. It also accentuates prevailing issues of corporate governance practice in Ghana. It finally makes some recommendations, which are considered the major contribution of this paper.
