Lower to middle Turonian carbonate platform of Provence (S.E. France) : active distensional tectonism control. The study of chronologically well constrained lateral facies variations in a rudist-bearing, carbonate platform from shoreline basinword, allowe a stratigraphie, geometric and paleoenvironmental scheme to be established. The platform development during the Lower Turonian was predominantly controlled by a distensional tectonic activity ; sea level changes are regarded as playing a subordinate role. This tectonic activity was efficient enough to promote erosion of a part of the underlying Cenomanian platform ; accordingly reworked from the Cenomanian platform have nourished the Turonian deposits. In addition, gravitational products have been generated from the platform margin.
