En Ecuador existen empresas distribuidoras de energía eléctrica que tienen pérdidas por hurto en las zonas más vulnerables del país, lo que genera un gran problema para las empresas, el contrarrestar estas prácticas; por tal razón, el entonces Ministerio de Electricidad y Energía Renovable (MEER) desde el año 2009, implementó un Plan de Reducción de Pérdidas (PLANREP), cuyo objetivo principal fue neutralizar este problema. Uno de los proyectos del PLANREP implementados en la CNEL- Unidad de Negocio Santo Domingo (distribuidora donde se aplicó este estudio) fue el cambio de redes abiertas a pre ensambladas, por lo que el objetivo del presente proyecto fue determinar la eficiencia técnica y económica del proyecto que dio como resultado la recuperación total de las pérdidas de energía no técnicas de los circuitos secundarios en estudio; además del análisis económico se determinó la rápida recuperación de la inversión siendo un proyecto rentable para la distribuidora
