Estudo quantitativo, observacional e de delineamento transversal, cujo objetivo foi identificar os fatores que interferem na acessibilidade da gestante ao acompanhamento do parto na rede do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) na cidade do Rio de Janeiro (RJ). Foi realizado em maternidades da rede SUS-RJ, por meio de entrevista estruturada. A amostra constituiu-se de 328 puérperas adolescentes. As informações foram organizadas em banco de dados, e para análise se utilizou o software EPI INFO versão 6.03, e a razão de prevalência como medida de associação. Os resultados evidenciaram que 40,5% das adolescentes eram negras; 54,9% tinham apenas o ensino fundamental; 91,5% haviam feito pré-natal. O acesso foi considerado insatisfatório em 36,6% dos casos, e 20,7% das puérperas passaram por mais de uma unidade de saúde para parir. Concluiu-se que a assistência à parturiente adolescente ainda necessita de ajustes, de modo a favorecer o acesso destas aos serviços de assistência ao parto.
In this article theprincipal aspects about maternal mortality are analyzed, with the objective the promotion of preventive actions for the avoidable maternal death. It is verified that entities as ADVOCACY have significant participation in the projects seeking for reduction of maternal mortality rates and the adjustment of procedures for protecting women's rights. It is also observed that the State Health Secretary, through the Resolutions 1.052/95 and 1.642/2001 express the state policies for reducing the problem. It is concluded that there are indications of political will about the proposals and projects for reducing the avoidable maternal mortality rates. However, there are no requests on its effectiveness. Health professionals as nurses need to gather efforts, and also an attitude of understanding and sensitiveness in their preventive actions.
