Este artigo apresenta a análise de dados quanti-qualitativos de uma pesquisa realizada entre 2016 e 2018, sobre percepções das mulheres moradoras do conjunto de favelas da Maré, no Rio de Janeiro, quanto a violência de gênero, suas manifestações e formas de enfrentamento no território. Considerando que mulheres pretas e pardas são mais suscetíveis de serem afetadas por violências de gênero, verificou-se que os tipos de violência e os locais onde ela se manifesta são resultado das condições econômicas e relacionais, em geral no ambiente doméstico/familiar e tendo como principais agressores, pessoas conhecidas ou que convivem com a vítima. Entretanto, os processos de violência, com raízes estruturais, também se relacionam à ausência de políticas no âmbito do Estado ou à ação de grupos armados atuantes no território, como é o caso da Maré, que reforçam as desigualdades sociais, em suas múltiplas manifestações, relacionados também à violência urbana.
