Este proyecto tuvo como objetivo lograr una mejora en el aprendizaje de las estructuras anatómicas a través del desarrollo de competencias. Se seleccionaron dos competencias disciplinares específicas: “Analiza modelos gráficos de estructuras anatómicas para obtener información y realizar inferencias que le permitan comprender dicha estructura” e “Interpreta los cortes de las estructuras anatómicas para ampliar su comprensión espacial”. Para cada una se valoró, en cada estudiante, el nivel alcanzado en cada uno de los indicadores de logro establecidos. Esta metodología permitió hacer foco en la evaluación formativa. Se utilizaron como instrumentos de valoración las propias tareas llevadas a cabo en el proceso de aprendizaje, para una evaluación auténtica. Se confeccionaron las guías de actividades y las tablas para registro. Se aplicó durante el cursado del tema Sistema Nervioso (SN), dadas las dificultades que su comprensión presenta a los estudiantes. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que esta metodología implementada contribuyó a la mejora en el aprendizaje ya que el 78% de los estudiantes alcanzó o superó el nivel satisfactorio en todos los indicadores de las competencias buscadas, superando las dificultades detectadas.
La técnica de plastinación de piezas anatómicas es un método eficaz para la conservación de materiales naturales. Los objetivos de este trabajo fueron lograr el montaje y puesta a punto de un equipo para plastinación a temperatura ambiente, con instrumentos y materiales accesibles, y optimizar las técnicas de procesamiento para obtener piezas anatómicas conservadas de calidad destinadas a la enseñanza. Se trabajó con cortes de encéfalos vacunos de 1 cm de espesor, fijados con formol al 5% a 5 °C por períodos no menores a 10 días, posterior deshidratación en acetona a -25°C, impregnación forzada con resina poliéster en un proceso lento, a temperatura ambiente, alternado períodos activos y pasivos y posterior curado con exposición al u.v. Las piezas obtenidas permitieron diferenciar claramente las estructuras internas del encéfalo, así como las sustancias gris y blanca. Se observó disminución en el peso y grosor de las muestras y oscurecimiento después de la realización de la técnica, pero se conservaron los detalles anatómicos haciéndolas aptas para la enseñanza de la anatomía macroscópica.
