O presente trabalho, de cunho teórico, propõe-se a discutir como as práticas de leitura de jovens inseridos na cultura digital vêm se redefinindo na contemporaneidade, considerando os lugares onde circula a literatura, suas múltiplas configurações e novas formas de apropriação. As reflexões trazidas são inspiradas, entre outros autores, por Cerrillo, em sua ênfase à literatura juvenil para a formação de leitores, Colomer , ao caracterizar a literatura juvenil contemporânea como um lugar de fronteira, Cosson, que explora o processo de alargamento do fenômeno literário, e Lluch, que analisa as transformações da literatura e do leitor atravessadas pelo mercado e mundo digital. O presente artigo resulta de uma pesquisa de doutoramento cujo objetivo central consistiu em compreender as práticas de leitura – o que leem e como leem – de jovens leitores dos 6º e 9º anos do ensino fundamental, em duas escolas públicas de Porto Alegre. As reflexões implementadas no presente texto privilegiaram a interpretação dos dados construídos na pesquisa de campo, com o objetivo de rastrear as pistas que evidenciam algumas das estratégias a que o mercado editorial, por meio da indústria cultural e do entretenimento, e da fluidez da cultura digital, tem buscado recorrer para capturar os jovens leitores. Os resultados dessa investigação apontam que as corporações editoriais se servem das interações, rastros e dados propagados nas redes digitais, através da livre conectividade, para propor uma “cultura literária popular”, como identificado por Collins (2010). Criam-se, assim, campanhas globalizadas que associam livros, filmes e outros produtos culturais, que se conectam e se expandem engendrando novos espaços de diálogo entre diferentes atores e elementos, alterando as tradicionais práticas de leitura e atuando na formação dos jovens leitores. Para as reflexões aqui propostas lançamos mão de teóricos como Bauman (2007), Canclini (2013), Collins (2010), Cosson (2017), Jenkins (2009), Jenkins, Ford e Green (2014), e Lluch (1999, 2007, 2014).
