RESUMOO estudo objetivou refletir sobre a teoria do autocuidado de Dorothea Orem como suporte para o cuidado clínico de enfermagem a mulher mastectomizada. O câncer de mama se constitui um tema de grande relevância na área da saúde da mulher, visto que o pós-diagnóstico envolve uma série de questões relacionadas às mudanças e a fase de adaptação, que afetam diretamente a qualidade de vida da mulher. Orem considera autocuidado, a execução de ações que o indivíduo inicia e executa em seu próprio interesse, afim de manter a vida, manter-se saudável e em função do bem estar, para promover, proporcionar, resgatar ou relacionar-se de maneira amistosa com restrições decorrentes de alterações da saúde. Para que uma tecnologia educativa seja atraente e compreensível é necessário pensarmos no público que irá fazer uso da troca de informações que acontecerá naquele ambiente com função educativa de modo a capacita-los a executar ações de forma segura, minimizando assim, a tensão de executar alguns procedimentos em ambiente domiciliar. Nessa perspectiva, entende-se que para proporcionar um cuidado clínico de enfermagem emancipatório é necessário conhecer os conceitos e os fundamentos da teoria a fim de aplica-lo de maneira individualizada considerando as necessidades e prioridades do ser cuidado para que seja eficaz.

Objetivo: evidenciar a efetividade dos métodos não farmacológicos utilizados durante o trabalho de parto a partir do discurso das puérperas. Método: estudo transversal com abordagem qualitativa, realizada com oito puérperas em um hospital de atenção terciária localizado no município de Maracanaú. Os dados foram coletados em novembro de 2019 por meio de entrevista semiestruturada e analisados de acordo com a técnica de Bardin. Resultados: obteve-se por resultados da pesquisa a divisão dos achados em quatro categorias, sendo elas: 1: Métodos não farmacológicos utilizados no trabalho de parto e parto, 2: Percepção das puérperas sobre a efetividade dos métodos não farmacológicos, 3: Avaliação da presença do acompanhante no trabalho de parto como suporte para utilização dos métodos não farmacológicos. Conclusão: a partir dos discursos das puérperas foi demonstrado em sua totalidade que os métodos não farmacológicos foram ditos como eficazes, uma vez que essas técnicas quando aplicadas traziam consigo uma sensação de relaxamento e consequentemente diminuição da dor, além do aceleramento do processo de parturição.
