The three-component reaction of benzotriazoles, aldehydes, and alkynes has been carried out for the first time using zinc bromide as a catalyst. The corresponding propargylbenzotriazoles are formed in high yields (79-97%) within 6-10 hours.
A one-pot three-component synthetic route toward 5-allyl-1,2,3-triazoles using copper(i) acetylide has been developed, which allows further transformation to important tricyclic scaffolds.
2-Alkenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives have been prepared by cross-coupling of 1,3,4-oxadiazoles with styrenes by using palladium(II) trifluoroacetate [Pd(TFA)2] as a catalyst, 1,10-phenanthroline as a ligand, silver trifluoroacetate as an oxidant, and toluene as a solvent. The products were formed in high yields and no byproducts were detected.
The first stereoselective total synthesis of the naturally occurring anti‐emetic diarylheptanoid (3R,5R)‐1‐(4‐hydroxyphenyl)‐7‐phenylheptane‐3,5‐diol (1) was accomplished starting from 4‐hydroxybenzaldehyde and involving a Sharpless kinetic resolution and an asymmetric epoxidation as the key steps (Scheme 2). The enantiomer 1a of this compound was also simultaneously prepared.
