Densities and viscosities have been determined for binary mixtures of 1-iodobutane with benzene, toluene, o-xylene, m-xylene, p-xylene, and mesitylene at 303.15, 308.15, and 313.15 K for the entire composition range at atmospheric pressure. The excess molar volumes, , deviations in viscosity, Δ , and excess Gibbs' free energy of activation flow, Δ * have been calculated from the experimental values. The experimental data were fitted to Redlich-Kister polynomial equation. The variations of these parameters with composition of the mixtures and temperature have been discussed in terms of molecular interactions occurring in these mixtures. Further, the viscosities of these binary mixtures were calculated theoretically from their corresponding pure component data by using empirical relations like

Using experimental values of densities, excess molar volume V E m have been calculated. Similarly, from the densities and viscosities values, deviation in viscosity Δη and excess Gibbs energy of activation for viscous flow ΔG ÃE has been calculated. Various viscosity correlating interaction parameters like Dolezalek-Schulze (D 12 ), Grunberg-Nissan (G 12 ), Tamura-Kurata (T 12 ), Katti-Chaudhri (W vis =RT) and McAllister 3-body relation (M 12 , M 21 ) have been calculated. The Kendall-Munroe relation, Bingham relation and Arrhenius-Eyring relation have also been calculated. The calculated results were fitted using Redlich-Kister polynomial equation. The results show negative value for excess molar volume and positive value for deviation in viscosity and excess Gibbs energy of activation for viscous flow for all three binaries that indicates the presence of strong interactions between binary components.
