El objetivo principal del presente estudio es estudiar la relación entre indicadores de salud mental (depresión, estrés y ansiedad) y la edad en jugadoras de fútbol. Concretamente se pretende determinar la relación entre la edad y la depresión, la edad y la ansiedad y la edad y el estrés. Las participantes fueron 74 jugadoras de fútbol, con una media de edad de 19,59 años (±4,74); con un intervalo entre los 13 y 33 años. La muestra se dividió en 3 grupos de edad: de 13 a 16 años, de 17 a 20 años y de 21 a 33 años. Para evaluar los indicadores de salud mental se utilizó la Escala de Depresión, Ansiedad y Estrés (DASS-21). Se realizó un análisis descriptivo de las variables y un análisis de correlación Rho de Spearman y ANOVA de un factor mediante contrastes post-hoc. Los resultados indican que las puntuaciones en depresión, ansiedad y estrés de las jugadoras fueron mayores en el grupo de 17 a 20 años, y menores en el de menor edad. Concretamente el nivel de depresión fue significativamente mayor en el grupo de 17-20 años en comparación con el grupo de 13-16 años. El paso de categorías de competición en edades tempranas a categorías de mayor relevancia competitiva podría estar explicando, en parte, estos resultados, y por tanto señala la importancia de un asesoramiento psicológico dirigido a moderar el impacto emocional y psicológico del paso de unas categorías a otras de mayor nivel.
