Este artículo indaga en las representaciones de la diversidad sexual tal y como eran expuestas por dos publicaciones argentinas, muy diferentes y dirigidas a públicos distintos, vigentes a principios del siglo XX. Se trata de la revista especializada Archivos de Psiquiatría, Criminología y Medicina Legal y del semanario humorístico de cultura general Fray Mocho. Se parte de la contextualización y el análisis de las profundas transformaciones que transitaba Buenos Aires con el cambio de siglo: el aluvión inmigratorio, el desarrollo urbano, el crecimiento económico, la modernización de los medios de comunicación y el incremento de la “mala vida”, que evidenciaban una complejidad social cada vez más dinámica; así, el corpus abordado permite identificar el paradigma estigmatizante de la época con respecto a la percepción de las sexualidades disidentes o no heteronormadas, que abarcaba desde lo médico-legal hasta las crónicas humorísticas leídas como pasatiempo.
Este trabajo se inserta en el análisis de las infancias queer en la Argentina de los años sesenta. Siguiendo el método etnográfico y valiéndose de la historia de vida de Genaro, un pai-de-santo afroumbandista del conurbano bonaerense, el artículo recorre las representaciones de la infancia queer a través de su testimonio, en conexión con la revisión de dos personajes muy populares entre el público infantil y familiar de la década: Pablo Mármol y Mafalda. En una era previa a las políticas de la identidad y los avances en materia de derechos individuales que vendrían más tarde para la comunidad LGBTIQ+, los niños no heteronormativos hallaban en estos productos de la cultura de masas, formas de representación que en uno u otro sentido posibilitaban modos de subjetivación.
En este artículo se analizan las trayectorias religiosas de tres travestis migrantes procedentes de pequeñas localidades del interior del país, que acuden a un templo afroumbandista ubicado en la zona norte del Área Metropolitana de Buenos Aires (AMBA). A través de sus testimonios, la investigación muestra cómo la participación en estas prácticas religiosas no tradicionales, específicamente en el culto kimbanda y la devoción por Pomba Gira –la entidad femenina patrocinante de este ritual–, brinda a las disidencias sexo-genéricas un espacio contenedor para el desarrollo personal, social y espiritual en función de la expresión y la construcción de una identidad individual y colectiva.
