The field of the ad-hoc network and its routing protocols had attracted a lot of researchers for many years, due to the various usage of the ad-hoc networks in many fields and especially the field of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Routing protocols in the ad-hoc network are the main focused problem, for their characteristics and role during the communication process of the ad-hoc networks, with its different types. In this paper, we are going to analyze and sheds the light on the performance of ad-hoc routing protocols, for both Flying ad-hoc network (FANET) and vehicle ad-hoc network (VANET) when applying three different ad-hoc routing protocols, respectively Reactive routing protocol, Proactive routing protocol, and Hybrid routing protocol, in order to shed light on the ambiguous misunderstanding of ad-hoc routing protocols functionality and to choose the best routing protocol to be used and adapted for UAVs.
Pepper's ghost effect has been used since its beginnings at the second half of XIX century to generate 3D projections of virtual people in real environments. Nowadays this effect is used by 'holographic' displays for the projection not only of virtual people but also of objects and even animations that can interact with real objects. Marketing and product presentations are some of the most used applications for these displays. Nevertheless, another interesting application is been explored recently: knowledge transfer for both industrial and educational purposes. Regardless the application there is a little problem with these displays: when they are used in a highilluminated place the contents projected are lost. That is the motivation for this project, which seeks to evaluate the use of a PDLC film (that allows to control its transmittance) to minimize these problem. Action research methodology is being used as a guideline for planning and executing the actions required in the project. The results were satisfactory; achieving an improvement in the visualizations of the contents displayed using the PDLC film.
Most edge detection algorithms deal only with grayscale images, and the way of adapting them to use with RGB images is an open problem. In this work, we explore different ways of aggregating the color information of a RGB image for edges extraction, and this is made by means of well-known edge detection algorithms. In this research, it is been used the set of images from Berkeley. In order to evaluate the algorithm's performance, F measure is computed. The way that color information -the different channels-is aggregated is proved to be relevant for the edge detection task. Moreover, post-aggregation of channels performed significatively better than the classic approach (pre-aggregation of channels).
"Technological advances within educational domains permit new teaching systems to emerge. Video-mapping is a technique that involves projecting images on threedimensional surfaces through motion effects. In the case of architectural projects, there are very few uses of videomapping that focus on urban planning and even fewer when the mapping is interactive. However, it is crucial to scale new ways of interpreting design using technologies such as video-mapping. In this research work, the themes of virtual environments, spatial representation, and basic design are combined with video-mapping. Students from the Digital Art and Architecture and the Industrial Design programs worked together in this effort, creating an architectural model made with 3D impressions; the users interacted and selected from the options of colors and textures available for the model city, generating different presentations according to the changes in the settings of the video-mapping software. Thus, this project opened the doors to welcome digital artists into the world of architecture and urbanism."
