The equation for convective‐dispersive solute transport in porous beds and the continuity equation were used to derive a relationship describing the dissolution of gypsum beds in flowing water. The parameters involved in the derived relationship were: bed length, solution flow velocity, dispersion coefficient, mass transfer rate coefficient, and gypsum fragment size. The proposed relationship was compared with previously published data and shown to be valid. A potential practical field application of the procedure is presented.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
