ABSTRACT. Jackfruit PPI-1 variety was selected as source of lignocellulose material. Its rind and pulp waste was used as precursor for preparation of activated carbon. K 2 CO 3 was selected as activating agent to prepare activated carbon. Various carbons were prepared by changing the impregnation ratio (IR) at different temperatures. Activated carbon prepared at 600 0 C and at IR1 had good BET surface area (987m 2 g -1 ) and yield (61.97%). In order to introduce different functional groups, this carbon was divided into two parts. One part was subjected to liquid phase oxidation with 0.1N HNO 3 and the other part was soaked in 0.1N KOH for 3hours. SEM, FTIR, TPD, XRD and TGA analyses were done to identify surface morphological changes, nature of functional groups and thermal stability of activated carbons.

Ultrasonic velocity evaluated by various theoretical relations viz., Nomoto, Free Length Theory (FLT), Van deal and Vangeel ideal mixing relation (IMR), Impedance Dependence Relation (IDR), and Junjie in three binary liquid mixtures of cyclohexanone as a common component with aliphatic esters (isopropyl acetate, isobutyl acetate and isoamyl acetate) at 303, 308, 313 and 318K over the entire composition range. An attempt has been made to compare the merits of the relations and the relative applicability of these theories to the present systems have been checked and discussed. The results are explained in terms of intermolecular interactions occurring in these binary systems. The deviation in the variation of U2exp / U2 imx from unity has also been evaluated for explaining the non-ideality in the mixtures.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
