The design of a data processing prototype for intensity based fiber optic sensors is presented. This processing unit fulfills the requirement of a simple and reliable measurement technique to the laboratory user. In this particular experiment, the data processing unit was tested for an optical fiber displacement sensor.
An investigation is performed on the characteristics of the self-referencing resonant fiber optic intensity based sensor supported by a Mach-Zehnder topology. Both transmissive and reflective configurations are analyzed. Via the definition of the measurement parameter ͑R parameter͒ the linearity and sensitivity of the sensor are addressed. Theoretical and experimental results are compared. The problem of sensor design is under consideration.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
