STRATEGY FOR RATIONALIZED AND SUSTAINABLE WATER USE IN AGRICULTURE SUMMARY:The importance of water for the success of crops in agriculture is unquestionable. However, it is necessary to find a balance between productivity requirements and socioenvironmental aspects. Crop irrigation requires efficient controls of water in the soil, seeking a rationalized and ecologically sustainable use. A Web-Mobile application was developed for this research, adapted so that computer devices (computers and smartphones) could access current water levels in the soil. The soil humidity reading was recorded by a sensor and the data stored in specialized database. The dedicated control station did not exceed its volatile storage and processing limits, where the first it was close to 90% RAM memory use and in the later, 62% of processor use. The study allowed the visualization of both current and past soil humidity levels on a dynamic graph.
