Avocado (Persea americana Mill.) fumigated with methyl bromide exhibited varying degrees of tolerance to fumigation as indicated by the extent of skin damage, but fruits of all cultivaгs were affected. Fumigation damage during ripening was masked on dark-skinned purple to black fruit. The majority of the green-skinned types showed obvious fumigation damage.
Annual yields of ‘Keauhou’ macadamia (Macadamia integrifolia Maiden & Betche) from a mixed planting averaged about 16 kg per tree more than from a pure block planting. The nuts from mixed-orchard nuts as compared to pure block stands were large (2.72 vs. 2.39 g), had more kernels (38 vs. 35%) and more oil (80.0 vs. 75.7% no. 1 nuts, those > 72% oil).
