In recent years, communication equipment performance and reliability have become dominated by software factors. The architecture of the software, as well as the hardware, has a substantial impact on the software performance and, thus, the equipment performance.
This paper focuses on the software and hardware architectures of a time division multiple access (TDMA) terminal and a digital speech interpolation (DSI) unit, which have been specifically designed to optimize software performance. This equipment is designed to operate in the INTELSAT and EUTELSAT TDMA networks.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
