FIEDLER, VEB Leuna-Werke "Walter Ulbricht," Leuna, German Democratic Republic SynopsisThe supermolecular structure of blown HDPE films, which were obtained by a combination of film blowing under a very low blowup ratio and slow takeoff velocity with subsequent uniaxial drawing, is characterized using WAXS texture and profile analysis, EM and mechanical investigations. Samples with low uniaxial drawing ratios (A 5 1.5) contain low stress crystalline and transcrystalline material and show an a-texture, while samples with higher uniaxial drawing ratios only consist of high stress crystalline material and show a c-texture. With one exception the results of texture investigations can be related to the results of the mechanical investigations.
Acta Polymerica 39 (1988) Nr. 9 481 poly(styrene). The fraction of "interfacial" poly(styrene) is nearly constant, and, therefore, the A(700 cm-l)/ A(1607 cm-l) ratio decreases by increasing t h e PS content because of the low value of this ratio ( M 3.2) obtained from "bulk" poly(styrene).Assuming the additivity of the absorbances of the "interfacial" and the "bulk" poly(styrene) characterized by the afore-mentioned ratios, it is possible t o calculate the A(700 cm-l)/A(1607 cm-l) ratios as a function of the polymer composition according t o LAMBERT-BEER'S law : =1(700 cm-l) el E2 1 ii(1607 cm-l) = (T c1 + T ") clf2' el, e2 and e3 are the coefficients of absorbance a t 700 cm-1 of the interfacial poly(styrene), a t 700 em-l of the pure bulk poly(styrene), and a t 1607 cm-l as the reference, respec-
Application of the coacetvative fractionation method for the preparation of fractions of low density polyethylene in preparative scaleSubject of the present investigations is the description and application of the coacervative fractionation method for the separation of amounts of 500 to 700 g low density polyethylene. The obtained fractions were characterized by their number and weight averages of molecular mass, the molecular inhomogeneity U, and the contraction factor g,, respectively. The fractions can be used for studies of structure-property relationships. Jetzige Anschrift: Dr. sc. nat.
