Development of processes and equipment for recovering uranium from nuclear rocket CRover) fuels is described. Secondary burning of primary ash, ash dissolution, liquid-solids separation, startup and supplemental heating of fluidized-bed burners, and other related development areas are discussed. Recovery of greater than 99.8% of the uranium from the ash was demonstrated in the pilot plant.
