Obgleieh sehon mehrfach der Kcimgehalt des Vaginalseerets Schwangerer der Gegenstand wissensehaftlicher Forschung war, so ist doch die Frage naeh dem Vorkommcn pathogener Mikroorganismen in demselben noeh eine offcne. Negative Resultate, d. h. aussehliesslieh Mikrobien unsehuldiger Natnr, erhielten bei ihren Untersuehungen GSnner, Thomen, Bumm und Samschin, w~hrend Winter, Widal, Steffeck und Dt~derlein igikroorganismen im Vaginalsehleim naehweisen konnten, die mit dan uns bekannten pathogenen identiseh zu sein sehienen. Die Thierversuche, die Winter mit seinen Organismen anstellte, verliefen alle resultatlos. Widal hat zu seinen Streptokokkenbefunden das Thierexperiment nieht mit herangezogen. Steffcek dagegen kann Uber positive Resultate beriehten; er injicirte Vaginalseeret selbst oder vermengt mit Reinculturen yon Bakterien aus demselben subeutan Vcrsuehsthieren ein. D t}derlein untcrsuehte das Vaginalsecret yon 195 Schwangeren; in 8 F~llen zttchtete er daraus den Streptococcus pyogcnes~ der sich in 5 F~llen beim Thierexperiment als pathogen erMes. Bei der Wiehtigkeit der Frage Melt ieh as wohl der MUhe werth, des Vaginalsecret Schwangerer einer erneuten baeteriologisehen Untersuehung zu unterziehen. Das Material wurde mir yon Herrn Prof. Dr. F r e u n d aus seiner geburtshtilflichcn Klinik zur Verftigung gestellt. Die Arbcitcn selbst wurden mit Erlaubniss des~Herrn Prof. Dr. Naunyn im Laboratorium der medicinisehen Klinik unter der Leitung des Herrn Privatdocenten Dr. E. L e vy ausgef~hrt.
